Access Keys

Navigational aids are implemented on most of our websites in the form of access-keys. If a web page is logically structured the user should be able to skip through links easily using the TAB key. We add further functionality through access-keys that allow the user to jump from one menu link to another using the keyboard only. Not only does this benefit those who cannot use a mouse, or use screen-reading software, but it can also speed navigation for more able-bodied users.

Although it should be easy and quick to move through links in a well-designed website, we also provide a means to skip over the main menu links via an access-key, so that users do not have to negotiate your main menu on each and every page.

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key.

Further subsidary pages have the following access-keys although most will not be active unless the parent page is viewed:
